Beautiful memories

I’m going to ttrryyy to upload more photos. Have not gotten the officially edited photos by my long time friend, Jiaming, and so I decided to do some editing myself first. Hehe. Thanks to my sisters and cousin, Ernest, I also managed to have a different angle of things as well! So this is going to be a mixture of the photos from them as well! Looking back, the whole solemnisation feels like a dream. A fairytale come true. Hope you enjoy the photos!

I actually love this shot alot. Heeee. Because most of the photos did not capture a close up of my make up, which I really wanted to see!

I think my dear looks very handsome here! Hehehe! I’m so in love with him!

This side view is nice too! Because my bao face is not visible here =X

Saying our wedding vows together. I like the looking into the eyes, at that moment.

Captured by Ernest, I love how the colours play against the background!

Our look of amazement/bliss upon the announcement of our new status!

This moment captured is perfect! Thanks Ernest!

No yum seng. Will be leaving that for the actual banquet. We had an elegant “cheers” three times instead.

This was a candid shot by my sister; I love how natural we looked. We were actualy walking about for our photoshoot.

This was also captured by my sister. I actually prefer this to the frontal shot.

Experimenting during the photoshoot!

Tada! My hubby is a strong man!

This is a photo series concept by Jiaming! Rather funny! Of course I made dear do all the poses. Haha!Taken by my sister too! Not my dear lah ok! Hahaha!

sYJc is married!

1 January 2011

Our special date, the new year beckons a new beginning. We are excited! Theme being The Little Mermaid, so everything from the mermaid cut gown, to the tiffany blue coloured cake and cupcake wedding favours, to the sea shells scattered everywhere, and not forgetting The Little Mermaid’s jigsaw puzzle and the sand unity set! I’m most satisfied with our decorations, which we painstakingly went around Singapore to find, and despite the poor quality of the video taken by my sister, the experience was once in a lifetime!

We started out early in the morning and checked in before rushing to decorate the respective areas. We had very helpful assistance from the hotel and although there was some screw up at the florist side, the whole programme flowed very smoothly!

It is a surreal feeling; marching in along the poolside, being aware of the next big step that we were about to take! And I was the only one who teared! Tsk tsk. My new hubby refused to succumb. Haha! We had our cousin, Winston, to thank for his wonderful emcee service. We had previously met up with him to discuss for a few hours. It paid off! We had the usual solemnisation, and my regret is not telling dear to kiss longer on the lips to capture a nicer shot, but ahh whatever, it’s over! We also had a special ceremony called the pouring of sand into our unity sand set, inviting first the mothers, then the groom and bride individually, before the newly wedded couple pour together, symbolising their union into one! A beautiful masterpiece!

The reception thereafter was great too! Nicely decorated, and the cake was ok, could have been better, but the colour was right and the cupcakes were too cute to be eaten. Had our champange popping, some lines spoken wrongly, ejecting laughter from the crowd, and phototaking session, before rounding off with a short photoshoot around the hotel and airport.

I think, it is important to stay composed but demanding on the day itself. Make sure everything goes according to your liking; where should this be placed, what oustanding things have to be done, etc. Be absolutely clear what you want and make sure you give clear instructions and remind the helpers constantly. Also, be sure to engage at least friends or professionals who are good photographers and videographers. I missed out on the latter, and now have a poor quality video. It is kind of a pity, because the photos can not capture all emotions every second.

The following is a sneak preview into our pretty set up depicting The Little Mermaid/the ocean theme!

And some photos of us!

More to come! Slowly painfully selecting and editing the photos!

ROM @ Amoy Street

Went to the ROM to collect our marriage certificate and supporting documents! So exciting! Omgosh! We had to “sompah” and make statutory declarations in front of the ROM officer, so funny! Like going to court like that, haha! And it was over and done with in less than 5 minutes.

It has been crazy the past few days. Time just flew by and I cannot remember exactly what we did. I only know that the activities all relate to the ROM details. And we both fell sick! Crazy can, I cannot imagine what it will be like to plan for the actual wedding banquet. Oh dear.

As the day draws near, I am having mixed feelings. I wonder how I would feel being married?

What have we been up to?

Preparing for the mini big day! 😀

Dear and I have been painstakingly cutting strips of pretty scallop ribbons and satin ones as well to create our little personalised invitation cards! It is little activities as such that makes the process all the more fun and memorable! I’m not really thinking about the day yet, I’m just looking forward to the last strands of tie ups to do. I think planning is more fun than attending! Haha!

18 Nov 2010

What was originally designated as our potential date for the customary wedding has instead become our official filing date for the notice of marriage! 🙂

Counting down to 1 January 2011.

Dream venue

but without the dream date available! 😦

Made our way down last week (or thereabout) to The Fullerton! We have, believe me, searched high and low and many hotels do not meet up to our expectations. (I know, we seem very picky and hard to please, but that’s just the way we are, very determined to find a place with the right ambience.) We have been oscillating between January 2012 and November 2011/2012. We both agree that November/December 2012 seems a tad too long away (LOL) so while it would be ideal to hold our dinner on 12.12.12, I’m rather certain it will not materialise.

Many obstacles in our way though. Wedding photoshoot in Perth will have to be dealt with, and we are actually toying around with the idea of ditching a package from our studio. =X

Add to these the horror of the expense required for printing invitation cards!!! We only require 30 cards now, so how in the world would we be willing to spend $100 just for printing!?

Dream Gown!

I admit I’m fickle-minded. It happened to my ring selection. It happened again, this time with the gown. And with the combined advice of my family and dear, I finally picked another gown, and it is really my dream gown this time! I love it!

I would recommend brides-to-be not to show your happiness whenever you see a potential gown that you may love. Because once the person assisting in your gown selection sees that, he/she may just stop searching for an even better gown. Makes sense? That was what happened to my first gown. I love it, too, but as dear said, when there is an even better one at hand, there is a clear difference as to what choice should be made. And I’m glad this time round, I insisted on getting more gowns to try! I’m so happy! Everyone’s happy with the gown!

Gown trying

What an afternoon! I had a long two hours trying on a few gowns for our ROM! Poor dear only had 10 minutes for his jacket, because, unfortunately, there are only those few suits to try on. I guess that is why guys are not as excited as the brides-to-be. Lol!

To divulge a lil, I’ve not chosen a short ROM dress. I find it too boring, and considering the fact that people cannot believe a young looking girl like me is getting married, I’ve decided to get a more mature looking and elegant dress! I don’t have pictures taken, wish I had, so that at least my family can get a glimpse of the gown! 😦

The changing process was rather fun albeit tiring. Tried on a few gowns, and some were too tight! OMG. Had to trouble the people there to help me zip up. Felt so bare and naked doing that. Hahaha. I hope I get to try on more for the photoshoots and wedding dinner. The selection for ROM is too little, or rather, the wedding coordinators chose the gowns for me to try. So, basically, I’ve no idea what range of gowns they have, really. What a pity!

The Deal

has been entered into!

Time to start planning proper for our upcoming ROM at Crowne Plaza! 🙂

P/s: Alina, our coordinator, is a really nice lady. Personally, I feel that while customers should be firm in getting all the perks available, they need to be realistic about their expectations too. Some older reviews that I read about Alina were not great, but it was only because some people asked for rather ridiculous requests. I’m rather happy with her services. We shall consider Crowne Plaza as one of our potential wedding dinner venues in 2012!

Tip: Attend as many bridal shows hosted by the different hotels as you can possibly cover, because the perks offered there are the best bargain you will ever get. Remember, they are keen to close the deals, so you actually do have quite a good bargaining power to begin with! Choose wisely!

The Guest List

Is seriously giving me a very bad time.

I have a limited number to invite, and just bringing in my cousins alone already burst the original number of 30.

What’s the sad part is that from my conversations with my dear excited friends who have been asking how the planning is going, they all thought that they would be invited, and I feel so very bad having to explain to them the situation. I’m really sorry dear babes! (They are mostly girls, Haha!) But they are all very understanding and I’m just so thankful for them offering to help etc.

So, the question really is, how is one going to streamline the guest list? The first rule of thumb is to invite close relatives and friends, especially for the solemnisation. After all, it is a very private affair that I’m sure only the close ones would bother wanting to go and witness, lol. And then, it is down to deciding whether to choose between relatives and friends. I chose relatives, mainly cousins my age, because the numbers are just right while the friends that I wanted to invite exceeded the numbers much more, whereas dear chose a mixture of relatives and 3 of his closest friends to make up a similar no. as that of my relatives. The remaining slots are going to be reserved for mutual friends, as we have decided that it is more “fair” and more meaningful to have friends who know the both of us to witness us tying the knot.

It’s really a personal preference, and is more an issue only when you have your solemnisation separately from the actual day with the dinner. As seen, there are additional costs which one need not spend on if you had both on the same day, because the hotel would provide a complimentary function room and the guests (hundreds of them if you even wish to) can then adjourn to the ballroom for the dinner.

The reason why I want to have a reception/buffet for my solemnisation when a mere cocktail session would have sufficed (especially say if you have your ROM on a Saturday and the dinner the next day) or even have a sign and go at the ROM itself is because first, I want it to be a little more special, and secondly, our dinner is soooo far away (at least to me, HAHA) such that I can enjoy this mini wedding first while I wait for the big day that is sooo far awayy, muahaha.
