Most Beautiful Couple Contest 2010!

31st October 2010 @ Orchard Central!

It was so tiring! We had to reach at 8am for rehearsal and went for our make up and hairstyling. The hair stylist gave me the wrong hairdo; he gave me the models’ huge birdnest hair!! OMG. The hairspray and the amount of back combing! Ouchh!!

Had to redo my hair into a simple bun…………..

During the contest, we were so nervous! We were not as eloquent and natural as the rest, and I had difficulty walking in my gown! So scary! Haha! But it was an experience of a lifetime…and we made many new friends! 🙂 Congrats to Berinda and Chin San for winning the Most Beautiful Couple 2010 with $15,000 worth of prizes!!

Now it’s time to concentrate on conitnuing our planning for the ROM, which is barely 2 months away!

Meanwhile, photos of us! 🙂

More to come next time! 🙂

The Wedding Dance

I’ve been screening videos and whats-not, and friends have also sent me links on weddings with creative dances and more. It seems that the general consensus is for a wedding to be more “wild”, in a sense. A party, a celebration of the union of two becoming one. I’ve been to weddings where the bride and groom would take dancing lessons to present their first dance on the floor as husband and wife. And I’ve seen both the “wild” ones and the “graceful” dance moves vide online wedding videos. I personally prefer the graceful ballroom dance. In my opinion, you should choose a dance which suits your personality. If you have sporting friends and audience, and you have a loud and attention grabbing personality, it certainly makes sense to go ahead with a wild party bash. However, for people like me………………….I’d prefer to have the kind of dance Belle and her Beast would be proud of.

Granduer dreams

Went to The Regent and Shangri-La over the weekend! The Regent indeed has many themes to choose from, and we also won TWO of the lucky draw prizes! Yes you read it right! But…they only allowed us to take the 6th rather than the 3rd prize 😦 Anyhow, it is a good hotel to go to if you are constrained by budget. Howver, I do not like fixed themes; so boring; every wedding held there would look practically the same! the bridal suite is also just an extension of a normal hotel room, and the hotel is also rather old… and I’d rather go to its neighbour, St Regis! We managed to take a look at a wedding reception and saw its magnificant ballroom! But it is too expensive, and one can only imagine the price tag when 2012 comes. In case you didn’t know, the tables increase per head every year! Yes so get married quickly!!! While we were not really interested in The Regent, we were interested in its food. Yumyum more shark’s fin and my favourite yam paste!

Sunday I had to skip church because Shangri-La’s wedding show was a mere 2 and a half hours! We barely had time to eat and tour around the hotel! There were chefs in their make shift stations at the reception area right outside the Island Ballroom, and the customised cakes were amazing. The wedding themes were also gorgeous, with a hefty price tag of course. The bridal suite that they offered to upgrade to the Valley Suite is indeed tantalising; amazing room as compared to its usual bridal room in the form of a Deluxe suite (on a smoking level somemore -.-“).

Unfortunately, the Island Ballroom is way out of our budget, and dear does not fancy the Tower Ballroom. Furthermore, both ballrooms are already taken on our chosen date as well. !!!. But we enjoyed the bridal show! There was a little show, literally, where the models enacted a scene of the wedding day. Haha! And we spotted our favourite model again!!!

We’ll be touring Capella and the Fullerton soon!

More to go

Last Sunday, we headed down to Amara Sanctuary Resort and Crowne Plaza for more wedding shows. We had freebies HEEHEE and also had the opportunity to attend more wedding fashion shows. I shall upload some of the photos here when I have the time. It’s rather difficult to commit during the wedding show despite all the promotions valid only during the show. Reason being, we have not gone to other ballrooms and surveyed the ambience of the surroundings. I like Amara Sanctuary for its different wedding suite; it has a bali feel, with the bed cast in romantic mosquito nets (or something like it, HAHA)! The villa is gorgeous too! But it depends la, some people may not like it…Over at Crowne Plaza, it’s quite clear that we will not be able to hold it over there because they can only hold a maximum of 25 tables; too little! But if you like a small wedding, it has a very different ballroom, meant to depict a rainforest.

Yesterday, we went down to Holiday Inn Atrium for Lavish Love. Guess what? There was another wedding fashion show, with the exact same models from the previous shows!!! There is a particularly gorgeous one; dear and I are always on the lookout for her entrance, haha! We are not really impressed with Holiday Inn. We then headed down in the evening to Marina Bay Sands Convention Hall. It was super ulu!! So difficult to find, and so many function rooms that the whole walkway through was like marching down an endless road! Horrible. And when I took sneak peeks into a wedding that had not started at 6pm, the decorations were not to standard. It was to be fair a junior ballroom, but no chandaliers or any grand lightings at all!!! Plain boring rectangular boxed lighting! No no nooo. So we headed to find the Sand Ballroom. It was HUGEEE and well I actually found the lighting here better and rather interesting. There are actually hundreds of glass bulbs of different sizes and lengths dangling. But the ceiling was not plastered well and there were dark patches everywhere ??? Not good at all.

Late into the evening, we decided to walk down to Fullerton, with hopeful hearts. We managed to sneak into the ballroom when the wedding had not started, oops. Dear was not really impressed again despite the ballroom being decorated already. 😦 I think we need to keep our expectations down. Sigh.

We are now casting our hopes on Mandarin Oriental and Shangri-La’s Island Ballroom. Making visits down soooon!
